I've been slowly ripping my DVD collection over the last year and encoding into XVID AVI files to play on my Popcorn NMT and have hit a problem.

When I rip Grey's Anatomy Season 2 (Region 1 DVD set) with DVD Fab and encode it with AGK the sound is out of synch with the picture.

It's the first time this has happened and I've ripped and encoded well over 400 DVDs this way already.

I only rip the main titles for movies and rip each episode of a series into a separate directory and then encode with AGK.

I've tried ripping with PathPlayer disabled but it made no difference so I've set it back to always enabled.

The ripped VOBs play in-sync on the PC using VLC 1.03
The encoded AVI is out of synch on the PC using both Windows Media Player and VLC.
The encoded AVI is also out of synch on the Popcorn.

I'm ripping with DVD Fab (purchased) 6.2.0.5
    I'm encoding with AutoGK 2.55
My PC is an Intel E6600 with 4gb RAM running XP Pro and ripping with a LG HL-DT-ST DVD drive on SATA. The PC has been the same for the last year although the SATA DVD was added 6 months ago and has ripped 200+ DVDs successfully since then.

After 400 successful rips+encodes (and further rips+encodes since Grey's Anatomy) this is the first failure and I'm desperate to find the cause and fix it, so any suggestions gratefully received.

I would probably try others converter and see if it makes any difference. Try StaxRIP.

If still same sync issues try another ripper like anydvd or after you ripped the dvd using dvdfab use fixvts on the dvd.

    Thanks for the reply.

I downloaded StaxRIP and encoded - same result, AVI is out of synch.
I downloaded anydvd trial (boy, does that have annoying nag screens), re-ripped the DVD and then encoded with AGK but same results, out of synch.
I downloaded fixvts and ran it over the DVDFAB VOBs, re-encoded with AGK and same result, out of synch

After posting on DVDFab forums, I tried encoding with DVDFab and that worked, producing an AVI file in synch.

I've also installed Handbrake 0.9.3 (the last version which supports xvid/avi, I believe) and that also produces an in-synch avi file.

So, it seems AGK is the part having problems

Although DVDFab and Handbrake can produce in-synch AVIs, I don't like either as an encoding solution - DVDFab encoding doesn't support multiple audio tracks and I just don't like Handbrake's xvid output, I think AGK gives a much better quality end result.
