On another website, my username account was permanently bannedI then opened another username account and was able to post. I asked that my original username account be unbanned, which they did. However, they said that if I didn't follow the rules, (including opening another account to circumvent the original ban) I truly would be banned permanently. You have been banned for the following reason:
None
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
My question is: How can they permanently ban me if I open another account? Can they see the unique IP address of my computer? You are unbanned, observe the all forum rules, before you post.
And if you generate another account to circumnavigate a ban I will permanently ban you.

What forum is this? Sounds like the behaviour of the mods at DslReports.com

Sounds like bautforum, just go check out their "banned users" list, my god they are true control freaks over there. Ridiculous forum.

	Sometimes rules don't make sense.
Other times, enforcement is uneven, doled out by morons on power trips.

For example, the useless moderators at the cnet forums and AVforum.co.uk love to delete posts with links. Although it's NOT against the site rules, the moderators say you're not allowed to link to other sites -- sites with related information that answers the question, or to products the person may want to consider. And no, it's not spam.

wow. that's the most basic operating principle of the entire internet. any and all sites you visit "sees" the unique ip of the system requesting something. your computer basically says to everyone this is xx.xx.xx.xx, can you please send me some info and the way that info gets back to you is they send it to xx.xx.xx.xx..... dynamic ip's don't change every few seconds or they wouldn't work. most info would get lost whenever the ip changed. they only change once in a while when the router or computer boots up or a network refresh is issued by the computer user. proxy users are a different story we won't go into. Can they see the unique IP address of my computer?--
