So what do you think of the new V series? I just watched the pilot episode and I think I'm gonna like it. I'm glad to see some scifi shows in primetime again.
Thoughts? Opinions?

I watched the old one (All 3 mini series were setup back to back) it was on like week before they launched the new one.
I like the new one just as much as the old one. It has a good writting staff, least so far. They could really turn this into a long running series for Si-Fi fans. -
Wonder if I can rent the originals? I'd like to see them again and I don't have cable or satellite. I was just a kid when the originals aired so I don't remember to much about them. Just the basic story plot and a few stray scenes pop into my head.
The one scene I remember most was of a man and woman "visitor" swallowing mice whole.

edit

I haven't had a chance to see the new series. I do remember the old series and we as a nation "freaked out" when Diana swallowed that canary (or was it a mouse) whole.

Abc.com will put it up on their website for online viewing saturday if you didn't catch it live.

I wasn't overly impressed, but it has potential. I'll keep watching.
I was a huge fan of the original when it was on and purchased the full DVD set, but after watching it again, I realized that the reason I liked it was on the strength of the actors, not the story. Marc Singer, Faye Grant, Jane Badler, Michael Ironside, and Robert Englund made the show worth watching. With the exception of Alan Tudyk, I don't see anyone in the cast that impresses me the way the list above did, right from the first time their characters were introduced.
So, from my perspective, the story is going to have to make up for it and it's too early to tell from only the pilot episode."Shut up Wesley!" -- Captain Jean-Luc Picard

I hate when the do crap like this
In September 2009 it was announced that four episodes of V would air in November 2009, and that the series would resume in March 2010 after the 2010 Winter Olympics to complete its 13-episode season. ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson said, "We always intended to break the show up into 'pods' to make it more of an event." As production of the fourth episode of V wrapped, it was announced on November 3, 2009 that Scott Rosenbaum had been named executive producer and showrunner of the series, with Peters and Hall remaining as executive producers. Production on the remaining nine episodes will resume in January 2010. -
I know the feeling. Sometimes I wonder if TV producers can find their butt with both hands.
There are no problems - only chances to excel.

good so far
didn't watch the original as I was a kid and my folks controlled the remote at that time - I watched what they watched and they didn't like scifi...
Did the original series also reveal that the visitors were reptilian and 'bad guys' in the very first episode? It seems almost anticlimactic..."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

Which means be the time it drags it's sorry arse over to this side of the world, we will probably get the full series in one hit. The original was big because it brought (almost) movie quality effects to TV in a mainstream "mini-series event". It hasn't dated well, but then most 80's sci-fi TV doesn't .
I just hope it is a little more exciting than the current crop. Flash Forward has been going over here and it is the slowest show I have seen in a long time. Far more boring than Lost or Heroes, which is saying something. Every episode is 8 steps sideways to half a step forward, without a character I could give a toss about. By the middle of the second episode I was done.Read my blog here.
