I can't seem to find a file format that works for hi-res (1080p or 1080i) playback on my Samsung BD-P4600. For now, I am trying to read the formats from a USB harddrive connected directly to the Samsung unit. The Samsung will play 720x480 files with no problem, but I've tried AVI format, MPEG format, and others to no avail.
I have both Sony Vegas Studio Professional 9 and AVC Video Convertor to create the files but have not found any formats from either software package that can play 1080p or 1080i on the Samsung.
Your help will be appreciated!

Have you tried make an avi divx in hd?
Try also make an AVCHD using multiAVCHD.
