  1. I am currently encoding AVI to MPG which works okay. Does anyone know if AVI through TV out on video card and then through a Video sender to TV in another room would produce better quality than encoding avi to on VCD.

    cheers

  2. technically yes, because encoding to MPG removes some data, lower data lower quality, if its good quality, either fully uncompressed or highly(divx) it will look better usually before its reencoded.
Its like comparing wav to MP3
Wav = AVI great quality but big files
MP3 = MPG good quality with lower file size.

Try a little of both and see which you like better.

  3. In my experience, the avi file always look better after they have been run through Tmepnc. Though Mpeg2 from AVI doesn't really add any quality to it, and sometmes to seem worse, but mpeg1 in my experience always make it look better.
Ok - you got me - i dont know anything - you happy now!
