  1. Hi,

I am new to this, and thanks for a great site to help us newbies.

I have a Sony Camcorder that saves to HDD. I need to edit my holiday video and take the mpeg2 files into something.

I got Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3. In what order should i use the software to edit my video.

I would like to get to such a stage that i can put it on DVD with nice chapters and menu etc.

Also can some one please just briefly explain to me what the function of Premiere pro is and encore.

    Thanks very much

    G

An MPeg2 HDD camcorder is most likely standard definition (720x576 interlace upper field first @ 25fps).

    1. You would use the software that came with the Sony camcorder to transfer the video to your hard drive over USB2.

    2. Then you would import the file into Premiere Pro and use that to edit your video and encode for DVD MPeg2.

    3. Then you would import your video and audio assets from Premiere into Encore to author your DVD.

The Adobe manuals and tutorials list all the steps.
