  1. ok, i got the beta drivers and beta studio 7 for xp... i can capture and encode to whatever codec fine from within studio 7... but i want to use another program cause the settings in studio 7 are limited to say the least.

    here are my two questions...

any way to use virtual dub instead?? when i try to capture from virtual dub it gives me an error that it cannot find a capture device... my guess is no on this one, but figured id ask anyway...

    here is my other...

when capturing in studio 7 it creates an avi file that is very large.... i can open this file in media player and it will play fine yet i cannot open it in tmpgenc... only way i can open the file in tmpgenc is to convert the avi to another codec first in studio 7 such as divx or huffy... but this kinda defeats the purpose because if i have to encode the file to another large file i can only capture to half the size of my HDD because i will have to use the other half for the encode. what i want to acheive is opening the first avi in tmpgenc without having to use studio 7 to encode to a usable form... any suggestion or am i shit outa luck??

  3. W98SE, DC10+, VirtualDub worked for me a while back. No chance to try it again for you, as I gave the card to a relative (I'm doing miniDVs now).

    hope this helps.

  4. yeah, i think what im gunna do is just use it in xp... i figured anything that is large enough to fill my HDD ill just encode to DIVX but if im doing small things like music videos ill go to mpg by encoding twice like i described in my first post... kinda sucks the drivers for the hardware only work for their software and not virtual dub.
