  1. I have bought a new power supply : Chieftec CFT-650-14CS http://www.chieftec.com/super-power.html
and I am trying to connect it to my motherboard and all the other stuff but when I try to start the pc then I get all the fans working but I think it's something wrong with the dvd writter because it makes a strange sound.
also I have an 8 pins cable which I don't know where to connect.

    My motherboard is ASUS M4A78-EM

Any help please, I really need to fix this fast...

  2. the 8 pin cpu cable isn't used on your m.b. only the 24 pin and a 4 pin cpu.

try getting to the bios with just the m.b. and video card connected to power.

Then remove it (disconnect the power and data cables) and try booting from the hard drive.

  4. I managed to make it work but I had to split the 8 pin into 4 and 4 and I connected one to the motherboard also.

Actually first I trying with the 4 pin, but it didn't work, but then when I split the 8 pin into 2, then it suddenly worked.
