I have bought a new power supply : Chieftec CFT-650-14CS http://www.chieftec.com/super-power.html
and I am trying to connect it to my motherboard and all the other stuff but when I try to start the pc then I get all the fans working but I think it's something wrong with the dvd writter because it makes a strange sound.
also I have an 8 pins cable which I don't know where to connect.
My motherboard is ASUS M4A78-EM
Any help please, I really need to fix this fast...

the 8 pin cpu cable isn't used on your m.b. only the 24 pin and a 4 pin cpu.
try getting to the bios with just the m.b. and video card connected to power. -
Then remove it (disconnect the power and data cables) and try booting from the hard drive.Originally Posted by alintatoc

I managed to make it work but I had to split the 8 pin into 4 and 4 and I connected one to the motherboard also.

Actually first I trying with the 4 pin, but it didn't work, but then when I split the 8 pin into 2, then it suddenly worked.Originally Posted by minidv2dvd
