Can anybody recommend to me the best available clear (see through) DVD player? A DVD player with a translucent shell (casing).

I've never seen any. I'm curious to know if any even exist.

  4. Pretty sure that at least the drive component is required to be opaque due to the danger of the laser itself. Other than that, never heard of or seen such a box, I think if you find ONE you may very well have found the Best.

  7. Hello, Daniel_BMS!

Look for a translucent green XBOX case such as this one:

    http://www.estarland.com/product18445.html

Or, a translucent blue XBOX case such as this other one:

    http://www.bonanzle.com/booths/SavewareUSA/items/Xbox_360_Translucent_Blue_Ghost_Case_...s___Tools___Mo

    Good luck,

Carlos Albert "DM", who is proudly using right now a translucent blue mouse, a translucent blue LCD, and a translucent clear keyboard...if he could find a translucent mini-tower, he would be using such immediately!!!

Well, he is talking about a standalone dvd player, not an Xbox.

And they have clear blue mid atx cases, not sure about mini towers but.

I knew i had seen them on ebay but just came across one while looking for a case.

I looked at a lot of computer cases on a lot of websites a couple of monts ago, trying to find the right non-transparent MATX tower case for me. I did not see many transparent or translucent cases. Other than the ATX tower already mentioned, this is the only other blue acrylic case I saw: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811166042

While no doubt some people love the look, transparent all-plastic computer cases don't seem all that practical. Anyone who gets one should be prepared to do a lot of dusting inside and outside the case.

  11. You can replace the cover with plexiglass (plastic). I've seen that on demo models. However, I think if much ambient light shines on the DVD, you will have problems reading disks.

edDV, that's an absolutely ridiculous suggestion.

Ever open a device, and discover fingerprints? Maybe even China-man pubes?
Seen some crap through the years, opening "new" electronics.
