    i know these questions has been thrown about a lot but here goes.
    1. is it possible convert a qualityn avi/divx to a burnable dvd (vob file structure) with no loss of quality at all ?
    2. if so what is the best encoder to do this available money no object ?

    1. Lossless ? No. Visually lossless ? Maybe. However the act of going from a lossy encoded video compression to a lossy encoded video compression will cause loss. There is simply no way around it. Add to that all the damage done by encoding to Xvid/Divx in the first place . . . . . . Even at 4Mbps, Xvid/Divx does damage.

    2. I like the freeware AVStoDVD. It uses HCEnc, which is as capable as any payware encoder, and a damn site cheaper (i.e. free).

    I would like to see a mediainfo of the source file to see just what sort of quality you are talking about.

    Nowadays, most of the DVD players support divx/avi playback. So, why convert to DVD (from more efficient MPEG4 to less efficient MPEG2)?
    You will get a loss in quality (as mentioned by guns1inger), and you can store less data in one disk...
