    Hi,

    I had been using WinAVI for awhile. I understand that there's an option which i could enter to indicate the maximum output size i desired. I had been converting rmvb files to DVD setting a limit of 4.7gb. However, lately i had been converting new files which exceeded the limit, instead of creating just one folder "DVD_01_1", it creates another folder "DVD_01_2".

    Is there any ways i can keep it within the 4.7gb limit? It kept exceeding :\

    Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

    Stop using WinAVI and use something better like AVStoDVD. WinAVI is a toy, and why people keep using it is beyond me. The quality is very average and the reliability is variable.

    Can you produce a DVD without a menu with AVStoDVD ? Yes. You can also produce mpg or elementary streams for authoring elsewhere.

    Use DVD Shrink to pull it down to the required size. You might lose a bit of quality doing so, but since you are going from one compressed format to another with your original conversion, it really doesnt matter.

    Hmm.. each file is around 300MB, 43mins. I placed 6 files in. Previously i had been using Convertxtodvd, it worked pretty well for 1yr+ or so but now i can't convert the rmvb files with them now.. Thus i tried out WinAVI but it kept exceeding 4.7gb.. so i'm trying to find a new prog which is able to replace them

  10. More than 4 hours. It's a lot. But we can come out using AVStoDVD.

    1. Go to 'Preferences'/'AudioVideo'
    2. Change 'Video Lower Avg BitRate' from 2500 to 500 kbps
    3. Press OK (save as default if you want)
    4. Load your 6 titles
    5. Encode

    Let me know

  12. Do you have installed a proper directshow codec to decode the rmvb file? If you can play the file with Windows Media Player (or the internal AVStoDVD 'Preview Clip'), you had, if not, you should do.

    Yeah, use the links in the menu on every page of this site, specifically "TOOLS" then "CODECS"

  16. If you use the AVStoDVD built-in player (Preview Clip) you should get the error message that AviSynth outputs. What does it say?

    Hmm.. i can't really view the vids using the in-built player. I can hear the audio but the screen remains grey..

  18. Ok, we are reaching the goal (maybe)

    Go to 'Preferences'/'Encoding'/'AVS Source Filter' and select 'DirectShowSource' instead of 'A2DSource'. Try again with built-in player. If you can see the video, go with the encode.

    Hmmm.. it says,

    "DirectShowSource: I can't determine the frame rate of the video, you must use the 'fps' parameter.

    (C: DOCUME~1/myusername/LOCALS~1/Temp/AviSynthP.avs, line 1)"
    Quote Quote
  20. Ok, let's stay with DirectShowSource.

    Now go to 'Edit Title'/'AviSynth' and toggle off 'Auto AviSynth Script'. Locate line with DirectShowSource function call. It should be something like:

    Code:
    Video = DirectShowSource("D:\yyzf1\7.rmvb", convertfps=true, audio=false)
    and replace it with:

    Code:
    Video = DirectShowSource("D:\yyzf1\7.rmvb", fps=25, convertfps=true, audio=false)
    Script will become red because of editing. Press OK and try again with built-in previewer.

    ^Yup it works now, and i'm able to convert the vid, thanks so much!!

    Just another question, do i have to keep editing the avisynth all the time whenever i'm converting the same types of rmvb files?

    Edit: There are several rmvb files that i tried using the above method, it gave the following error msg:

    "Directshowsource: RenderFile, the filter graph manager won't talk to me

    (COCUME~1/myusername/LOCALS~1/Temp/AviSynthP.avs, line 2)"

    Until AVStoDVD next release, yes.

    Usually that type of error happens when codecs are missing or when there is a codec conflict (i.e. when more than one directshow decoder is installed).
