    Is Sony and Optiarc DVD writers the same? Because there is Sony AD7240S and Optiarc AD7240S. Some don'y even heard of Optiarc. Thanks.

    Optiarc is 100% owned by Sony, so they are probably the same.

    Sony and NEC joined together and called the drives Optiarc.
