can anyone help a newbie with panasonic DVD-RV31 playing VCD

sorry to be a complete and utter dunce :P i have just purchased my first player...the DVD-RV31 UK model...i read here that it played CDR VCD's and as i download a lot of clips from the net(i love my cable modem )i thought this would be ideal for me...no problemo, I'll just put all my clips on CDR and hey presto...free up some much needed drive space!! ..yeah right...I'm stumped already...I'm using WinOncd to burn to memorex CDR's,...I've burned mpeg and mpg to no avail...whats the problem...I'm desperate...have i shelled out my hard earned cash for a heap of crap?? other users in this forum seem to be able to do it with good results so i figure it must be my fault...any help would be greatly appreciated and a well desrved pint of the necter will be forthcoming to any and all samaratins..

couple of things.

1. read the how to author on the left.
2. You'll probably need to re-encode the stuff you downloaded to
get the mpegs compliant.
3. burn them as vcd not data cds.

just dumping the mpeg files on to a cdr won't work.
thereby the reason why I mention look to the left.

cheers tigerwolf...or is it Aragon? lol..i did burn as vcd not data but i will now read faq on authoring as i haven't a clue what re-encoding is!!..thanx again...i didn't really expect such a prompt reply ....I'm well chuffed.

are you using the vcd templates of WinOnCD? or using a regular data CD?
you should use nero to burn vcd. they have a demo copy at www.nero.com.
