I've done a lot of research on this, but so far I've hit a brick wall.
Here's the situation:
I have sign language videos on DVD that I want to rip to MP4/M4V files that contain chapters (for use on iPod/iPhone). I'd really prefer to use a free program to accomplish this.
The problem:
Most programs that offer DVD ripping need to have an audio stream to even load the VOB files to begin ripping. Those that do (at least those that I have been able to use) do not support adding chapters to the video.
What I've done so far:
Try to use Handbrake, since it's the only one I've found so far that can rip a DVD and transfer the skip markers to chapters within the M4V file. I know I could do it after the fact manually, but that'd be a heck of a job for the video I'm working with. I found an apparent patch that might work by skipping the audio scan portion, and letting me convert/compress the video, but I'm no programmer and I've tried without success.
Please excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject, but that's why I'm here! Appreciate any help...
