    Hi everyone,

I have some dvd's that I need to remove several chapters from and then I need to reburn them as dvd's. I have read and followed several guides here on how to use Dvddecrypter or Smartripper to remove the chapters, but the resulting files never include a Video_TS.IFO (it only creates a VTS_01_0.ifo and a VTS_01_1.vob), so when I go to reburn the new files, none of the burning softwares I try will recognize it as a dvd because this file is missing.
So I guess I nee dsome help figuring out how to either create a video_ts.ifo or what software to use that will process the files I have correctly so the dvd will work.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can give!

Rip it with DVD Fab Decrypter (or DVD Decrypter if it is older or non-commercial) then open the ripped disc in DVD Shrink. Click on Re-auther, and drag the title you want from the right to lefthand side. Right-click on it, and select Set Start and End Points. You can set by either selecting chapters in the drop down, or using the slider. If the chapters are not consecutive, drag a second copy of the title across and repeat. Repeat again until you have all the chapters you want. Press Backup, and write the results to your HDD. Burn with Imgburn and you are done.

Caveat : no menus with this method.

If menus are required, rip the disc (see above) then use VobBlanker to remove everything but the chapters you want.

    Hey Guns1inger,

Thank you so much for your info. I knew I had done it before with DVDShrink, but just couldn't remember how. I had totally forgotten about the right click... I kept trying to see the chapters over in the left box.

Unfortunately, after following your instructions, I had a brand new problem I had never seen before. I backed up the disc, then opened files in DVDShrink. I removed the chapters I didn't want (chap 1-9 removed), then made backup. The new disc scrambled the chapter off of the disc! It took the last 4-5 chapters from the original disc and made them the first 4-5 chapters on the new disc. I double dhecked the backu files and everything was fine. Any ideas what would take chapters 16-20 and arbritrarily move them to the front of the disc?

I am going to go experiment a little bit and see if I can figure it out.

Well, I just tried again. The original disc had to identical tracks. I tried editing the second track this time instead, made vid files first before burning and voilla! Worked great!!

    Thanks again guns1inger

I suspect that the disc had a branch for a second language, which DVD Shrink sees as two titles. The first title was probable the branched title, and the second the main. You could probably have ditched the first title completely and not missed anything.

Anyways, glad it worked for you.
