  1. Hey everyone,

I've been transferring our family VHS tapes to DVD using EasyCap. After I capture the video I convert it into a .VOB format, the problem I'm having is that the file is way to big to burn onto a DVD. To try to solve this I downloaded DVDShrink 3.2 and attempted to import one of the 8 .VOB files. When I click "Open Files" and find my files I get a message from DVDShrink saying that there is no .IFO file contained. My question is what do I do next to use this to convert .VOB files?

Do you still have the original MPEG2 capture file(s)?

  3. no I dont. I saw online that .VOB files are the best to use when transferring to DVD. Should I convert the .VOV back to MPEG then transfer?

    It's VOB, not VOV.

Whats' the point of converting back to MPG, if your intent is to use DVD Shrink? Shrink won't open MPGs either. You need the complete DVD.

VOB is the format of the DVD video/audio files and is created by the DVD authoring process, with the
accompanying files, such as the IFO, etc. You should not be attempting to create VOB files directly.

Capture as DVD compliant mpeg-2 and author them in an authoring program.
