  1. I have an MTS video file from my Digital Camcorder. I would like to rotate the video and crop it then save it as a Divx/Xvid file. Unfortunately the tools i have aren't very good. AviDemux crashes or is incapable of recompressing (odd bug). I used TMPGEnc to convertt the MTS to Divx and then tried using VirtualDub but on attempting to rotate, crop, then recompress out to Divx i get the error: the source image format is not acceptable - error code -2. I've tried cropping to different sizes (width a multiple of 2, 4, 8 but no go).

Is there a tool i can use to convert my MTS video (or Divx video) and edit it so that i can "rotate" and "crop" and save out to a more useful file format?

I guess you also tried rotate the divx in avidemux? Same bug?

Or else can you make an avisynth script to rotate and load in virtualdub and save as avi divx. Google it for more info.

That usually means the frame size was illegal for the compression codec. Many codecs require even multiples of 4. So a frame size of 640x481 is not legal, 640x480 is.

  4. The problem i have with AviDemux is it refuses to save out the new file with the filter changes. Basically it always saves out a "copy". I've tried selecting the codec from the drop down (changed from COPY) but still it saves out as a copy. VirtualDub at least performs the full processing but the error message above still appears. I will try adjusting the dimensions as suggested.
