hello if i can explain what i am looking into doing.
i have a villa in florida and would like to set up a home media system for my front room over there.i have quite a vast collection of dvd,s in cluding about 50 blue ray discs.what i would like to do is have a film library on my system.
i plan to get a large 50/60 inch tv so would be looking for a system to resize my dvd's but compromise the picture too much.
i have tried clonedvdmobile but this only gives you the option of a 4:3 size screen.i am looking at 16:9.can anyone reccomend a program that would be able to do this.
i am looking at all seperating the discs into categories like disney in one section, action, thriller, dram etc.i have about 1500 dvds and blue rays of which i would like quite a few of these on this system
many thanks for any help

Welcome, but you need to explain better what you want to do. Also you said "but compromise the picture too much". I think there is a missing "not" in that sentence.
Are you wanting to convert 4:3 video to 16:9? If yes, then why? What do you think this will get you? If you are one of those guys who hates pillar boxing (that's the boxes on the sides of 4:3 video when displayed on a 16:9 screen), yes, there are ways to do it, but they decrease the quality of the video AND you lose part of the image in doing this. I'm not going to help you to do this nonsense, but there are others here who might.
If you are not talking about convert 4:3 video to 16:9 but mean something else when you say "resize", then please explain what you mean. -
hi there
all i want to do is set up a home media centre and put as many of my dvd's on there.no dvd extra,s just the movie.i want to keep the movie as it is,16:9 size
i am doing this as i have a very large collection of movies and instead of paying for cable movie packages i will have a whole bunch of movies for my holiday guests to watch.
thanks for you help -
are you looking for something that stores/plays movie files like the western digital hd media player like this you can store movie files on?
http://www.buy.com/prod/western-digital-wd-tv-hd-media-player/q/loc/111/209975073.html
you don't have to resize the dvds. just decrypt them with dvdfab or anydvd and then use vob2mpeg on the main movie with one audio track. it will create a single mpeg you can store. -
i really appreciate your help with this.
i think it really depnds on how big the movie file is i guess.can i get the movie down to 1 gig or something so that i can get most of my collection onto it.
basically what i am trying to do is save money on films that i have already got and not pay for the same movies on my cable package in florida.that way my guets will have a whole host of stuff to watch when getting back from the parks etc.
if it is possible to resize the movie to say 1-2 gigs without compromising the picture quality on my future big screen.the new tv will hopefuly be the kuro pioneer 50-60 inch as i have one of these here at home in london
cheers -
i guess what i am asking is to turn the movie file into a playabe avi/mpeg/divx file.the smaller the movie file the more movies i can fir onto the media centre
