I am trying to figure out if repairing the Optical Block on my Sony KDS-R50XBR1 is worth it, vs. buying a new TV. I got the Sony back in 2006 and now I have to pay almost 1,200 bucks to fix the optical block. The guy says it's going to run like it fresh out of the showroom, and buying another TV is silly. Is that just sales person talk?
I tried looking at differences in TV's today, but I keep finding reviews from 2005 & '06. I would like some input from people that know. I loved the Sony's picture before it started going bad, and I am told that the KDS-R50XBR1 is still a better made product that many of today's highest sellers.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks
