DVD slideshow GUI is great, but I don't seem to be able to make it display subtitles taken from exif
correctly.
I've just installed DVDsGUI085B and tried it on a few jpg images each of which has a comment in exif.
Those comments are supposed to be subtitles for the slides. After choosing User Comment for Presets:
Import settings: Subs, I got nothing (empty). Then, I tried All Jpeg, and to my surprise, the subtitles
included:
file name, file size, file date, image size in pixels, user comment ?
Every subtitle contains '?' at the end. No other exif items are shown.
Next, for Subs I tried in sequence:
File name - displayed file name
File size - displayed file size in bytes
File date- displayed file date and time
Camera make - displayed image size in pixels
Camera model - displayed comment from exif, followed by '?'
Date/Time - displayed nothing
Resolution - displayed nothing
.
.
.
User Comment - displayed nothing
That '?' at the end of each comment is what makes comments from exif unusable as subtitles.
I am sure it is some simple mistake, very easy to be fixed by the author. If it is somewhere
in avisynth scripts, I would try to fix it myself. But I don't know how to find it.
Regards to all, and especially to the author.

Most of all it sounds like some kind of inconsistencies of the Exif data format. DSG is using Jhead to extract the Exif data. Try to run you image with comment with that and have a look if there are any inconsistencies between the two. Actually DSG generates a text file with the last extracted exif data in the main folder of DSG is called: Jheadinfo.txt - this file is generated by Jhead - and read by DSG.
I don't get the '?' here - what software are you using to add the comments? -
You are right. Jhead outputs exif data of my images exactly as they are shown as All Jpeg for subtitles:
File name
File size
File date
Resolution
Comment followed by \n?
Comments have been added with IrfanView 4.00. I would never have guessed it could deform exif data.
I believe I have to use jhead instead.
Thanks and regards,

Well this thread is about 1 Year old, but I have a very similar problem.
The only information a can import in subtitles is the file name.
All other possibilities does not work.
Jhead.exe shows me the full EXIF and IPTC Data.
A file jheadinfo.txt will not be created.
When I create a file named jheadinfo.txt before importing it disappears.

I remember being similarly confused about Presets - Import settings in DVDsGUI. When you change something there, and click Apply, you have to import your images again. No change applies to images imported previously.
Hope this helps,

Thank you Jack;
even when I set my import settings before importing pictures there is the same result.
I am wondering about the behaviour concerning the file jheadinfo.txt.

What is your OS?
What is your version number of DVD slideshow GUI?
Do you have the same problem with 0.9.1.0?(Get it here at videohelp)
Is it the same problem when importing like 2 or 3 images? -
I now downloaded the 0.9.2.0 and have still the same problem. javascript:emoticon('
')
I installed the 0.9.2.0 in a new directory but have to state that it is not possible to have the 09.1.0 and the 09.2.0 installed parallel at the same time.
