Does anyone know if it's possible to change keyframes in SUPER? I would post on SUPER's forum but it seems to be down. I would like to put in a keyframe every X (??) frames so that when I put the encoded video in an editor and press the "next keyframe" button, it will roughly forward to every second.

I just tried it with a SUPER today and it was doing it every 9 seconds!!

    thank you

What codec are you using? Setting keyframe rate is usually done in the codec settings. Xvid/Divx is usually every ~300 frames by default, but you can adjust them to a different rate. Of course, the more keyframes, the larger the file.

With Xvid/Divx you can use a newer version of VirtualDub with 'Smart Rendering' turned on and you can cut just about anywhere and it will just re-encode at the cut points. Highly compressed codecs are usually not 'edit friendly', as they use wide keyframe spacing.

Rough math, but 9 second keyframe interval@ 29.97fps is close to a 300 frame interval.

Well, I don't actually use SUPER, at least I don't anymore. A long time ago they used to have a much shorter interval from the first keyframe to the second keyframe and next and so on, but when that changed with a new version of SUPER I switched to Vdub using the FFmpeg and adjusted the key frame from that. Vdub is fine, but it takes so much time to adjust the settings and it's just too much of a hassle and I would love to go back to SUPER if possible.

When I was using SUPER before my output container was AVI and my codec was mpeg4 (I think). I am not bound to either of these however, if someone told me that X codec would give me keyframes every 25 frames I would use it.

    any suggestions?
