Trying to reencode a WMV (codecs: WMV1, WMA2) to MP4 (H.264, AAC-LC) using XVID4PSP so I can play them on my PS3. My encoding settings for video is X264 HQ Ultra. Right when I MUXING step it dies with an ERROR: Access is denied message. I can play the WMV file just fine with Windows media player. I’m not sure what more information to give to help out cause I’m not even sure what the error message means. Google hasn’t been helpful with this… Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Does it convert anything or does it jump to muxing directly?

Or just try something else like Handbrake and use the ps3 profile.

I believe the files were converted at the time of the mux.

One thing to mention, there was a directory listed on the screen just before the access is denied message. I think is was the current location of my target mp4 file name. Would this have something to do with a file/folder/directory property?

Video file: C:\Temp\0002.264 does exist the .m4a does not. However, It did when it was in the process of actively converting. I checked.

I was wrong about this. No .m4a file was ever in C:\Temp. There is other file types temporarily there during the encode but .m4a isnt one of them. Sorry!

Ok, decided to give handbrake a try without a lot of luck. It says encoding is done but there is nothing playable in the target file. I used the guide for handbrake(http://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/WindowsGuiGuide) using the ps3 preset so I think I am doing that part correctly.... Would appreciate any help to get something working....

  15. well u can also set the settings on xvid4psp to bluray and choose any other settings u want. in the end u will have a bdmv folder but all u really want is the m2ts file anyway. just rename the "00001.m2ts" file to whatever u wish. after that you can either copy it over to the ps3 or just stream it . this is what i do and i havent had a file that hasnt played it . hope this helps.
