I have switched from WinTV7 from WinTV6 because WinTV6 isn't really that great at finding QAM channels and seems to break a lot.
Anyway, I finally got some nice crystal clear TV recordings from QAM vs Analog.
Now WinTV7 even though it was only recording for 70 minutes made the file 4.99GB or so, I then used ProjectX and made a M2P.
VirtualDub with MPEG Filter seemed to open but then when you attempted to preview it, it played extremely slow like it was pictures instead of a movie.
I then tried MeGui using the D2V Indexer, it claims almost 3 hours to convert to Xvid/Mp3.
Am I missing some obvious conversion techniques?

Well the clip is 70 minutes long.
I am tryin to use XVid-Scratchpad with a CQ of 8.0.
Also LAME Scratchpad at 128CBR. -
I used WinTV's own app for converting TS to PS.
It seems to create a working MPG that VirtualDub and other apps will accept, it's just that VirtualDub after opening the file, plays the video like I'm on a really slow old computer.
Yet, the video just played in Windows Media Player with no real issue.
Maybe what's screwing up the video is that it's reported width and height is 1900xsomething, which seems amazingly huge.
Maybe I will have to resize it then try and convert it somehow.
EDIT: I am using MeGUI to convert the video which seems to be working well, just still taking 2 hours now for 40 minute recording.
Though I guess it needs time to resize down to 720x480 and take it to 8.0 quality.
EDIT #2: I just SWITCHED from WinTV7 TO WinTV6, because it records in normal MPEG (non-TS), so I have almost no problem converting to formats I want.
