    I plan to rip my dvd,blu-ray and hddvd collection to my HD and use tver**ty sever software. What is the best sofwareto rip and the best codec to use . avi,wva,mp3,mp4 etc. to rip the three formats and keep the best audio and video quality possible. Playing media on 150 in 1080 p projector screen so picture quality is important. 3 most important things.
    1 picture quality
    2. audio i dont want to loose dolby digital and lossless audio etc.
    3. save hard drive space if possible. ( i will buy more drives if necessary currently 4tb)

    I guess you are going to stream to xbox or ps3 or something?

    If you really want to shrink I would use h264 video and convert to mkv...but a htpc would be best for playback then. Use for example ripbot264 or makemkv(and shrink using handbrake). BUT if you have lots of video it take tons of time to shrink/convert it...so it may not be worth it, you can then just make isos from the dvd and blurays or mkvs using makemkv.
