    Thanks.

W_Eagle, do you want to play actual Blu-Ray discs, or Blu-Ray content copied to a hard drive?

Actually, in the web page it's not a * it's a bullet item along with several others which I didn't bother to quote.

First of all, HD can mean
    High Definition
    Hard Disk

In this case, it's a little of both, but I think the original poster is missing that.

PowerDVD stopped playing ripped BluRay and HD DVD discs from hard drives after version 7.3. The current version of PowerDVD will still, supposedly, play BluRay discs, but given how each version of PowerDVD that is released has less functionality than the one before it, I am not kidding when I say that it wouldn't surprise me at all if PowerDVD stopped supporting BluRay playback, even from pressed discs.

It will only work with a HDMI-enabled graphics card even if the recording is totally encryption-free.

Actually, it works quite nicely with AnyDVD HD (?). I think you mean that the video card has to be HDCP-enabled.

Then again, if you have an HDMI jack, that's more or less a given, since you can't have that without HDCP.

Hopefully they'll do some real improvements to the program soon. From what I understand, it's the one thing that's holding Auzentech's X-Fi HomeTheater HD sound card up.

If you like. I'm using AnyDVD already but don't have a dedicated graphics card let alone a HDMI jack! My current PC isn't worth the expense of adding one even if the power supply was up to it which I doubt.
