Hi, Can anybody help me out with some questions about converting VHS to DVD? I have all the equipment to do this. I am using Pinnacle. My questions are: Which should I use to burn the DVDs, DVD-R or DVD+R discs? Which will play in most players, etc. out there right now? Also, if I was to make copy of DVD-R disc, can it be copied to a DVD+R and visa versa? I will be using Ativa Gold 4x 4.7GB 120min. , or should I use the 16x ones?

Pinnacle - read the book. Those devices are pieces of crap, I have one for testing, hate it. Good luck with it. My laptops refused to even see that dumb thing, and Pinnacle Studio 11 tried to take my codecs hostage.

Either DVD-R or DVD+R is fine.

DVD-R and DVD+R just hold data, the data is not disc specific. Copy back and forth just fine

Ativa discs are junk. Gold discs are a gimmick. Learn more about good media at www.nomorecoasters.com -- only use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or some Sony.

  3. fairly basic questions you would have found through searching. dvd-r is the most compatible, yes you can copy to either from either, ativa is not a brand i've ever heard of or would ever use. verbatim or taiyo yuden are the brands with the highest quality and the only ones i use.

you probably should have started your own thread for this question.

I believe Ativa is OfficeDepot house brand and -R [4489MB] hold about 6MB more than +R but which is very rarely a significant issue.
