i was rendering a project in vegas 8.0 into an avi file and when it was rendering this came up when it stooped rendering

and after that the whole program just closed down without asking me to save the project.

after that i checked the file and for the first 20 seconds there was video then the video just went black but still had the effects and audio. could this of happened if something got unplugged like an external hard drive where it had all the footage?

dunno but it's almost certainly something on your timeline
try rendering pieces of it and when you hit the wall, you may be able to adjust it where it fails...

that error is often caused by faulty/failing ram. it's a memory read error.

Is the AVI file an XVID avi, a divx avi an uncompressed AVI??

Basically what compression (if any) is being used.

I have the SAME probllem T_T
i have windows xp with 960 MB of RAM,
and is not laggy at all...

im using Mpeg as my videos and png/jpeg for my images >_>
