    Hello,

Due to an application SW bug, one of my Camcorder DVDs got quick erased when plugged in the DVD-RW drive. I have tried restoring the content with IsoBuster, which helped me extract all the VOBs and some of the IFO objects.

What I'd like to do next is re-create the DVD, ... however, seem to have a little issue to resolve first. The original DVD was created on a DVD Camcorder. The DVD creation SW was recording the footage with many submenues and title scenes. Now, without the complete DVD directory structure, the VOBs are not playing well on any of the standard DVD player applications I've tried. Some will only recognize few seconds of footage, some will get further ahead but every time a change of scene is reached, the player will hang up for a moment before continuing with the next scene or stop altogether. I have also tried converting to MPEGs (using cocoon QuickMediaConverter) or recreating the DVD (with VSO ConvertXtoDVD 3), but none of the final results was improved.

Would be great if anyone can suggest ways to either restore the full DVD content, or re-edit the VOBs to remove the choppy behavior because of a missing IFO, which usually stores the play sequence and PCG information for the VOB.

    Thanks, BT.

  2. did you try a deleted file recovery program on the dvdrw?

or you could use vob2mpg to convert to mpg and re-write the gop timecodes to create a single smoother playing file. as for menus that is probably up to you to create, using whatever you have for a dvd authoring program.

  3. You can re-create IFOs for those VOBs with IFOEdit. If you still have problems with playback after try FixVTS on it. Like minidv2dvd says you can convert to mpg and edit the footage in an NLE to fix it.

Yes, I used IsoBuster and was only able to partially recover the entire DVD (but got the full VOB set). Is there any other app I should try out as well?

Does vob2mpg automatically re-write the gop timecodes, or is it something I need to read up first before attempting to fix and re-author the DVD.

Re: You can re-create IFOs for those VOBs with IFOEdit.

The version of IFOEdit I have (v0.971) does not work with VOBs - it recognizes IFO & BUP type of files only. I can give VTS a try, but my bet will be on fixing up with vob2mpg and re-authoring the DVD.

  6. Start IFOEdit, don't do anything else and look for the "Create IFO" button. Find your VOBs and that's it.
