  1. I just need a answer to whether the Asus V7100 or V7700 Deluxe Combo can capture video from a VHS VCR and output it back to VHS VCR??? Need to know urgently - can anyone provide some help?? Which Asus card would you recommend?

    Thanks

Asus "Deluxe" cards do video-in AND out. non-deluxe cards will only do video-out. So, you'll need the deluxe version if you want to capture, then put it back out to VHS.

If your running Win2k, stear clear of ASUS cards as their video-capture drivers for Win2k are crap. If your using Win 9X or ME, then ASUS cards are just fine imo (I have a V6800 Deluxe myself and it works flawlessly).

  3. Thanks Hilljack!!

Would the Asus V7100 card be the best buy or would you recommend the V7700? I am concerned about price and if theres not much performance difference I will go with the V7100. Any other card suggestions???

    Thanks again

    Hi funkmaste,

From what I can tell, the V7700 is a newer card than the V7100 (I'm looking at both cards right now on ASUS' website). From that standpoint, the V7700 will be better with 3D performance, but video-capturing will be the same on both cards - their difference is the GeForce2 MX/GTS chipsets (which has no effect on video-capturing).

So, if your concerned with price, and if 3D game performance is not an big issue, I would go with the "ASUS V7100 Deluxe Combo" and you'll get an excellent product (and horrible support from them, but that's what forums like this are for

    Good luck!
