ok this is annoying. Some help please. I have Vista 64 Ultimate. I just started getting this. Every time I open word 2007, i get this message "Please wait while windows configures Roxio Creator 2009". I wait, then ok, it opens Word. But this is every time now. I uninstalled Roxio and re-installe it, no help. I tried Office 2007 repair, no luck. Can anyone point me to right direction. Thanks.

  2. I would remove Roxio. Vista's built in burning engine is a stripped and dummied down version of Roxio. Completely remove Office 2007 and reinstall.

  4. Consider this tool from MS to remove the vestiges of things that didn't complete install/uninstall.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

It doesn't actually uninstall anything, rather it removes any left over stuff in the registry. Note, it is originally intended for Office but can be used for other products. Also note that you shouldn't use it for Office 2007. Basically, a list will pop-up and if Roxio shows up, you can remove it and allow Windows to no longer think that Roxio was incompletely installed/uninstalled.

And don't put Roxio back on (nor Nero, nor Pinnacle).

Thank so much for your help, but again I like roxio. I never had this problem with both installed and I can't figure why it's doing this. I will use the tool, but was hoping that I can live with both.

  6. If the tool works you can reinstall Roxio. Sometimes installing or uninstalling a product fails to finish properly and so Windows will try to run the install/uninstall again and again until it succeeds. It knows this because of stuff left behind in the registry. The tool simply removes this information so that Windows has a clean slate to allow it to install other stuff. All of the UAC things added to Vista has caused some msi files to screw up even though they work fine on XP.

Funny thing, it only happens with word, not excel, publisher, access, etc. Only in word i get this headache, does that help.

  9. You could also try using system restore and go back to before you noticed the problem.

The point of removing both is to narrow down the scope of the problem. At this point, you are not sure whether it is an office problem or a Roxio problem.

  12. Sometimes, it cannot be avoided

After googling, Roxio and Office 2007 do not play well together. You are not the only one with the problem. Uninstalls of both products and reinstalls were recommended.
