Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this issue I'm facing?
When I take an AVI video file from my Sony DV camcorder or any video file for that matter and send it straight to my DVD burner from the Hard Drive and burning it with Windows DVD Maker the playback quality of the DVD in my home DVD player is perfect without any freezes.
But when I try to use any video editing software such as windows movie maker or Cyberlink Power Director and then burn the edited video to DVD it will freeze up in various areas and even cause video glitches and squares on the screen sometimes.
Any Ideas ?
Thanks,
Tim Harris

Does the file play well from the hard disk? If so, then that tells you something. Burn the authored result with something good, like Imgburn, and use good media.
Other things that can cause problems are excessive peak bitrates (which players may not be able to support). Keep it below about 9Mb/s or so.
Is your editing software smart enough to either allow cuts/splices only at keyframe boundaries, or re-render the video altogether? If not, then that can be a big source of odd playback behavior. If you are seeing problems consistently at the same places, and if these places also coincide with your edits, then this becomes more likely.
These are perhaps the most common causes of such problems.
