  1. What does Smatripper mean when it says that, "Some files still LOCKED"?

  2. if some files were unlocked, and some files were locked...then i'm guessing that those "locked" files could be vobs bigger than the standard 0.99 gig. i believe the newest smartrippers can handle those...but i'm not sure if they're automatically activiated or you need to change an option somewhere. the new dvddecryptors can also handle the >0.99 gig vob files too.

if all the files are locked, then this isn't your problem....

  3. What version of SmartRipper are you using?

Which DVD are you trying to rip?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  4. Hi,

I am using SmartRipper 2.41 with NO ASPI layer installed. I am using WinXP.

So, what does, "Some files still locked" mean?

Perhaps I should try another ripper? Is there an alternative one that you may recommend?

  5. Locate CompelASPI of ForceASPI and install. This will most likely solve the problem you're having with Smartripper. For some movies I get the "files still locked" error if I don't have ASPI layer access and on others I get it if I do. But so far Smartripper has been able to handle every movie I've tried will a little tinkering. In the Smartripper there is a .bat file that can run Smartripper without ASPI after you have installed layer for those movies that then give you a problem.

  6. I get this too, I user Smartripper 2.41 on:

    (1) Win2K Pro Intel based desktop - no problems
    (2) Win2K Pro Intel based laptop - no problems
    (3) XP based laptop - "Some files still locked"

I try the old "play it with DVD software" first, but it never works on my XP system. I suspect it was something to do with the message "No ASPI layer installed", something with the way XP does things?
