  1. I used to donwload some youtube videos and then convert then with VisualHub and send then to iTunes.
No I can't do it anymore more.

I can view then in VLC.

Mpegstreamclip can open then but just audio, no video.

    VisualHub reports the following:
    "Cannot get resamplin content"
And in the log I get several hundreds of times the following line
    [flv @ 0x6100a0]Unsupported video codec (7)

  3. Excuse if I'm a bit ignorant.

What is playing flv files in my system? It seems that is not Quicktime since QTPro cannot play this files. But MpegStreamClip could until know and I thought it uses Quicktime to play video. IF ffmpeg is the one who can play the files ¿why can VLC play them and npt MpegStreamClip? What about VisualHub?

As you can see I'm in a total dumb in video questions but willing to understand.

    Thanks.

    Install the Perian plugin.
    www.perian.org

QuickTime Pro has nothing to do with alternative codecs; rather, it merely allows exporting and some other tricks from within the QT Player app and sometimes from within Safari.

(MPEG Streamclip export from flv to mp4 works fine with Perian.)

VLC has its own codecs (see the VLC project page and associated faqs), so playing something successfully with VLC tells you nothing about whether or not some other piece of software will be able to play it.

As the previous poster suggested, using Perian allows QT to play flv files, so if you want to use QT (and QT-based software), then that's your solution.

  6. Thnaks, it seems that I have installed an old perian version (1.1.2) and it didin't want to find a new version. I went to Perian Web and find there was 1.1.3. Now everything goes right.

  7. I end to thread too soon.
I can play the .flv files and convert them in MpegStreamClip now, but still cannot convert them in VisualHub or PunnyVid (which is just a bit easier).
    Is there any reason?
If the first post is true

force decoder -if avaiable in VH options?- to QuickTime decoder (QT uses Perian, and Perian contains a brand new FFmpeg library)

Private PS to David: thanks , …I'm very busy actually

    bye
    For DVD, iPad, HD, connected TV, … iMovie & FCPX? MovieConverter-Studio 3 (01/24/2015) - Handle your camcorder's videos? even in 60p or 60i? do a slow-motion? MovieCam.

  9. ¡Thanks Herve! You have done it again. There are 3 options in VH (QT, ffmpeg, VLC) and forcing Quicktime decoder did get the job done. It seems that PunyVid (which I get from you in another thread in this forum) doesn't have this options but since it the same application with less options, who cares?

PS to Herve: Are you really saying thanks to me??
