    Hi,
I just got a new digital camera (Panasonic TZ5) and i want to convert the videos to h264 and cut down the file size but not lose much if any quality. I have tried lots of programs but they all lose quite a bit of quality and make it slightly blocky. Any helps would be appreciated! Also is h264 the best codec for quality to compression ratio?

Please give us much information as possible and it is MUCH easier to give detailed help.
What is your source details? Video frame size/resolution? Video bitrate.
What programs? What codec settings like video bitrate, video frame size/resoltion have you tried.

Yep, h264 would probably be the best. Convert using for example WinFF, mpeg streamclip, avidemux or xvid4psp and try use constant quality encoding mode.

I tried 2 programs, AVS Video converter and used .mov h.264 with bitrate opf 1200, same video size and frame rate. and RER HD Movie Converter and used the same setting except 2400 bitrate and it literally didnt change at all i took a frame capture of both files and they were identical in quality and size even though i used double the bitrate. I have no idea what bitrate to use to keep the quality very good.

    Thanks for the help
