Hi. Ok, so I have finished my project and want to put it on a DVD. I render it as a MPEG2 file. Someone said to save the audio and video seperately. Can anyone briefly explain how to do this? Then when rendered I open it up in my DVD authoring software and bingo?! Most videos will be 60 minutes or less so I can render at 8mbps.
Can I just use Sony Vegas to render and Nero Vision to author the DVD?

    Anything I need to know?
    Cheers for any help.

    PAL in oz.
I used Nero to author but it is not fancy.
I think you have to render audio/video seperate if you want to use DVD architect. Any ideas on that?
    cheers

I wouldn't use Nero to author for two reasons. One, the output isn't 100% complaint, and two, Nero has a nasty habit of re-encoding compliant material.

If you have Vegas Pro you can use the render presets as a starting point, then customise them to get better quality. The bitrates in the custom presets are woefully low.

If you have one of the home Vegas versions then you will find that you may be more restricted in what flexibility you have.

For 60 minutes or less I would output audio as 256 kbps AC3 2.0 (or 448 5.1 if that is what you have), and single pass CBR video at 8700 kbps (8500 if using 448 audio). This should be playable on all but the feeblest of players (and frankly, if they can't play in spec material, screw them. It is this need to cater for the sub-standard minority that has stopped human evolution).

Author in something decent - GUIForDVDAuthor is free and flexible - then burn with Imgburn. There is really no need for Nero at all, IMO.

I dont think its a minority anymore.
I believe we are starting to un-evolve.

Cheers anyway. Nero does not seem too good. Have to upgrade.
    Thanks

Parts of Nero used to be good, now it is big, bloated and, well, very average.

Imgburn is small, light, and very good at what is does. I use it for everything but audio CDs.

Nero is ok for mp3 discs but seemed to break up 30minutes into my movie.
Tried the ones you suggested and could not figure them out.
    Purchased Sony DVD Architect instead
    It has help me tips
    So pretty easy for me
    Cheers
