I have a dvd (it is legal) that I need to rip and edit in Sony Vegas. I used ImToo ripper 5 to rip the file and I created an AVI file with it.
When I put it in Vegas 8 all I got was a tiny little black thing. So for kicks I opened it in Microsoft Media Player and it played the file fine, perfect audio and video. I then opened it in Movie Maker and for some reason it divided it into a group of sections but each section played fine with audio and video.
Can someone help me to understand how to rip the video so it will open properly in a program like Vegas or Premier (yes I tried that too and only got an audio track no video track)?
Thanks for your help.

Use DVDFab HD Decrypter to copy the file to your HDD. Then use VOB2MPG to extract the mpg video/audio into an mpg file. Load this into Vegas 8

Thanks for the help. I tried as you suggested and the first program worked fine. But after using the second program I placed the file in Vegas and the video had horizontal lines like an old tv but again when I played it in Medial Player it played fine.
So I found a program called MovAvi and that seemed to work fine. I can edit the files in Vegas with no problem, at least to this point.
Thank for your help.
