Does anyone know if I will have any sort of problems while using Vegas 8.0 to edit m2ts files?
for right now I am rendering it in avi as I go, but I want the final project to be HD. SO i just render in draft for now.
Any thoughts about this? before I spend months editing.... any road blocks ahead that might come up? any other software that might be handy? speak freely

What camera are you using? Unfortunately there are variations in the format depending on the camera brand. Vegas works fine with m2ts files from a Sony camcorder but it balks with Canon camcorders.

We're talking about Vegas Pro 8? It shouldn't be a problem, as far as the software goes. An m2ts file is AVCHD format, and Vegas Pro 8 should handle DV, AVCHD, and HDV. Certainly, it should handle Sony AVCHD. SCDVD says it balks at Canon videos of that format. I don't know about Panasonic. Another problem might arise from the CPU-intensive processing involved with the AVCHD format.
You don't have to spend months editing in order to find your answer. Make a quickie test project, rapidly throwing random footage on the Vegas timeline to see what happens.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP make new similar topics for your m2ts hd editing stuff. Stay in ONE topic and it's MUCH easier to follow what you are doing. Use https://forum.videohelp.com/topic359426.html and JUST reply to add new information.
