I have just started making vcd's and svcd's with smartripper, dvd2avi and tmpgenc and would like to get a better quality picture. The sound is great, but the picture gets fuzzy and blocky in action scenes. I am just using the settings that are in Sefy's guide.
Are there better programs I could be using or different settings in the programs I am currently using that could be changed to solve my problem?
I don't know if this info helps, but here it is;
AMD 800mhz Duron
256 DDR
2 20 gig IBM Deskstar
Voodoo 3
Pioneer 106S
Plextor 12x10x32
I have just been using the settings in Sefy's guide;

Thanks for your help.

frameserve the dvd again. but this time in dvd2avi go to video then
field operation and select force film. and in tmpge load the ntsc vcd film template. this will give much better results. -
If that still isn't the quality you are looking for try dvd2svcd.
It uses cinema craft 2.5 encoder which is very expensive but the quality
is amazing.You will have to search for a copy of cinema craft with crack,unless you can afford $3800 :o
If you are interested goto doom9.net and take a look.
