If they are blu-ray compliant use tsmuxer and remux to a blu-ray/avchd format. Burn with imgburn. See https://www.videohelp.com/guides?formatconversionselect=MKV%20to%20Blu-ray .You can also try multiAVCHD .

If the mkv is not blu-ray compliant reconvert to blu-ray video using ripbot264.

If you don't know if the mkv is blu-ray compliant then post the details about the mkv, use mediainfo, open mkv, View->Text and post the result here.

You could try converting them to BD player compatible AVC. A couple of programs to try: D2MP or maybe RipBot264. BD compatible conversion is a bit of a 'black art' at present.

You can also look to 'WHAT IS' Blu-ray to the upper left on this page for BD information.

Windows 2000? It usually works about the same as XP, though drivers may be a bit harder to find. You will probably have to try the programs mentioned and see how they work.

Not mentioned previously, but the DVD disc manufacturer may also cause playback problems, along with the BD player itself. Not all DVD discs are compatible with all players or burners. If your burned disc is BD compatible, then the disc or the player is in question. Usually recommended are Verbatim or some Sony discs, or Taiyo Yuden, though they are normally mail order.
