Hey everyone. I've been using Smartripper to try and rip clips from DVDS and convert them into AVI or MPEG to use with TMPGE Express and i'm not having any luck. i've been reading the guides and still no luck. what i'm doing is selecting the chapter i want in smart ripper and it rips it fine. next i take the VOB file and change it to .vob to .mpg or .avi. when i open the file in tmpge express the clip is not the chapter i selected in smartripper and there is no audio. i'm sure i'm missing a step.

or is there a simple way to rip a chapter from a dvd so i can use it in tmpge?

    thanks.

First off I think smartripper is abandonware isn't it? I don't think its still in development.

You can use any newer dvd ripper like dvdfab decrypter and select the section you want to rip. You can select just the audio track you want and come out with a vob.

Now I've never used tmpegnc express so I can't help you with that. But it should have its own guides or online help for what you want. Also you need to be more specific about avi. It is a container not a codec. Are you looking for divx or xvid or something else? You need to have the codec you want installed on your system - now tmpegenc express may have installed both of them for you.

This is where to look for conversion guides. I think you can also search by program.
