Hi, I searched the forum first before posting this and did not find the answer. I Just bought a 5992 and when I turn it off the display reads "standby" and then goes black but the red power light stays on. I have the auto standby and sleep set to off in the settings. Is the red power light supposed to be on all the time?

The Philips players's power light is backwards. The light is on when the unit is turned off, off when the unit is turned on. Samsung TVs too. It's the latest fashion.

Thanks for the speedy reply Jagabo ! It seems this is not very energy efficient having a light on all the time when something is powered down

It's so you can find the button. I'm sure it probably uses around 1 watt a year = .00002 cents.

Thanks for all the replies. BTW the player worked for me using the USB flash drive with U3 software installed.
