  1. I am thinking of replacing my Hi-Fi vhs vcr with a svhs vcr. Would I notice the quility change or not? If not, I save $200.

  2. i'd say it mostly depends on your tv and the recording of the tape (ok i'd have my old editing teacher screaming at me :-p) honestly considering i haven't seen any tape braging svhs at my video store i'd say it's not worth 200 bucks more for a feature you MIGHT use once in a while...

If you want to use the S-VCR as source for converting video (S-VHS) to SVCD the quality is much better than pure VHS.But watchiung VHs tapes will of course show no difference.
One disadvantage: you'll need better tapes for recording of S-VHS.With S-VHS-ET you can only record in SP on non S-VHS tapes.Chrome tapes are recommended (cost twice as much as cheap VHS tapes)

If your cable signal sucks than SVHS won't help. But if you have a good input source the results on SVHS are noticably better. Like you can record a DVD onto SVHS and playback looks the same.
