I have successfully hooked up my cable through my VCR to play on my TV but the problem is that it only pla up to channel 13 and some random channels after that. Normally I can get all the channels (from 1-57) if I hook up the coaxial cable signal directly to the TV. I was wondering if there is some simple function that I am missing or if I am just out of luck. The VCR I currently have is an old sears model that has the generic VCR functions ie. play, stop, rec, channel up and down.
I hooked up the coaxial cable that receives the cable signal to the VCR and another coaxial cable from the VCR to the TV.
    Thanks for the future help,
    Thartch

When you set up the VCR did you perform a channel scan? (That should be in the set-up menu somewhere, unless the VCR is really old.)

  3. the vcr may be old enough that it expects vhf/uhf signals. that may limit what it can get off the cable. newer vcr's can scan for channels from their setup menu.

The scan menu should have a Cable vs Antenna setting.

Channel frequencies are different for cable above channel 13.

Wow, awesome guys! Thanks for the quick responses! What you are all saying sounds like what it happening. I am unable to locate a menu anywhere. I am currently using a Shaw multi-remote and cant push anything on there for a menu. (Yes, it is programmed. I can change channels, turn it on/off etc.)
Is there a special way to get to the menu?
I am a VCR retard so all help is very appreciated
Edit: I have a button on there 'SP/EP' no idea if that is important

You probably need the original remote. Maybe there are more buttons on the unit.
