  1. OK, so I got a PS3 for Xmas and although the playback of my ripped movie collection (Nero AVC mp4s) is very good none of the 'forced/mandatory' subtitles are shown. Therefore, I have decided to re-rip these films as Xvid with permanent subtitles using AutoGK. Now as I have approx 500 films and don't remember all those that have mandatory subtitles I was wondering whether there was a movie database I can use or a tool that will quickly tell me which ones I need to re-rip. The best mechanism I have at the moment is to open each one in Nero Showtime and sheck for subtitle streams but this relies on me having got it right in the first place.

    Cheers

If the subtitles are a separate stream muxed into the video (you can turn them on or off), then a utility like MediaInfo may be able to tell you whether or not the stream is there in a video.

If the subtitles are burned into the video... then no, they're an actual part of the video data, and the only way to tell if they're there is to watch the video.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

If they were burned in then the PS3 wouldn't have a problem; I'll give MediaInfo a try tho, cheers.
