Wow, a half hour too long for you?

I don't understand what you want to do actually. You're talking about two MPEG streams I assume. Do you mean "join" instead of "mux"?

The best way to do this is with a payware tool like TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 2 or VideoReDo. I know there are free tools out there, but I personally don't know a very good one. There's a free version of TMPGEnc available which does simple muxing, but lacks some features.

At any rate, here's how to do it on the payware TMPGEnc version. Hopefully the free version is similar.

    If you want to join:
-Load the files into the "Source" interface
-In "Format" select "Output one file" and the "output stream type" depending on whether you just want video, or video with audio, (which will be blank in this case), etc.
-Then in "Output" just name your file and encode. It should be lossless and quick.

    If you want to mux:
-In the "Start" interface select "MPEG tools"
    -Select "Multiplexer (Advanced)" tab
-Load your files into the window (or drag them in)
    -Name your output file
    -Press "Start"
-(If you're batching many jobs, just "register batch" them and select "start" below)

I wouldn't know why you'd want to mux two streams into one file. Nevertheless, you can play this muxed file with VLC by selecting the Video track you want.

If you want it in an MKV container you can mux with MKVToolnix/MKVmerge, or if you want a transport stream use tsMuxeR.
I hate VHS. I always did.

    Try Avidemux

It'll combine 2 or more m2v files. File / Open and then File /Append

  5. DGIndex (free). Open the 2 together (use "Add" if you have to), and then go File->Save Project and Demux Video.
