Apologies if this resembles any other posted questions but an extensive search found nothing.

Does anyone know what the various capture and release groups such as Xvid-xor, notv and Lol are using to make their encodes? The quality of their material at 350Mb per 40 mins is stunning and I don't seem able to match it even at much higher bitrates. Specifically they seem to have beaten the "blockiness in black" problem that drives me mad.

    Thanks.

The groups you mention are part of the area that is considered warez, and therefore not really open for discussion here.

FWIW, what I have seen doesn't impress, doesn't beat the blocks in black, and is easily matched by the judicious use of tools such as AutoGK. 350 MB for 40 - 45 minutes of footage is inadequate to produce quality encodes using Divx/Xvid at the resolutions they use.
    Read my blog here.

  3. Keep in mind that the bitrate needed for any particular video will vary depending on the content: how much noise, how much motion, how much detail, how bright, the frame size, the frame rate, etc.

uncle mort, mentioning the names of Warez groups on our forum is close to advocating Warez, which would be a violation of our rules. Please read our rules before posting.
