I have a rather odd subtitle problem. I've noticed this with several movies when trying to use Korean subtitles. Now as far as I can remember it used to be fine, but lately if I open a movie in MPC it will load the subtitles twice (as can be expected) vobsub will jump in and show them and MPC will load them itself. The problem is, the vobsub ones are garbled characters, and the MPC shows correct korean letters.
My region is set to Korea, but what really baffles me is why one application shows garbled subtitles, and the other one shows subtitles perfectly fine.
Now it doesn't happen with every set of Korean subtitles (I think often SMI file types, but not always) but it happens enough that it is becoming a pain in the neck, especially as I've occasionally had some korean subtitles that show garbage through vobsub, mpc, vlc, and wmp, all at the same time (I ended up having to download kmplayer just to get an app that would show the subtitles properly)

There's a huge list of "cans" and "cants" between applications as to what is supported, or even done properly
Though check if DirectVobSub is installed > http://www.free-codecs.com/download/DirectVobSub.htm -
Well I guess the confusing thing for me is that the common cause I see reported about this usually has to do with region stuff. So if its a region problem.. why would vobsub, or any other program have an issue if another program doesn't.
Also the first time I noticed this crop up was after editing a Korean subtitle file. There was a mistake (timing maybe, or something else I can't recall now) after saving the file it started to show as garbage. Even downloading the file again it would still show up as garbage where 5 minutes earlier it had been working fine. The file still had korean characters in it when it was opened in notepad.
