    Hi.

    I'm posting the following on behalf of someone else.

    By reading the following request i was sent. Can someone please shed any light on what type of software that is being requested?

    Thanks in advance for any help given.

    What I am trying to do is get the progam to read the book to me. I have got TextAloud Software. With this progam I have to copy/paste the book and get the program to start reading, then flick to the book and follow the text so I can look at the pictures and diagrams.

    The program I would realy like is one that reads staight from the book, but maybe I am expecting to much.

    uhmm... the software they have will 'read' computer text files aloud- y'know, the 'computer voice'; (there is one already built-in to XP in START>ACCESSORIES>ACCESSIBILITY>NARRATOR)

    however, even Google digitizers would have trouble shoving a book into some slot and having it read aloud. There are machines that will turn pages and do OCR; but they just won't be simple enough to sit and read bedtime stories for somebody.

    the function is also available in ebooks technology, but it depends on a book being available that way.

    There used to be outfits like LIBRARY OF THE FUTURE that issued CDs with thousands of public domain works of literature on them- like all of Mark Twain, Jules Verne, Shelley, Shakespeare, etc;
    but you can thank Sonny Boner for the fact that nothing written since the 1930s will be available until today's kids are full grown.
