  2. Did you open the dvd with another sftware program like windvd. Sometimes you have to unlock the dvd before smartripper will acknowlegde it.

  4. As stupid as this may sound...did you stick in a DVD rom or a CD rom? Believe it or not some people don't know that you actually need a DVD rom to rip DVDs.

    happen to me. If you run Smart Ripper without a DVD in the drive, it will report the error. Now, after this and you tried to put a DVD in the drive, it will still give you the same error. The only way to get rid of this is to reboot.
